Yog Nidra is done after the practice of the asans after the practice of the Asans and Pranayam.
Yog Nidra, is a powerful technique in which we learn to relax consciously. It induces complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. It is not about sleep; rather a conscious, deep relaxation, in which one is fully aware and awake, yet completely relaxed.
The technique involves directing the awareness to a specific part of the body, relaxing and recharging that area. Thus, as the awareness traverses the entire body systematically, the whole body and the mind get relaxed.
This is usually practiced after doing Yog, to relax and harmonize. It can be done during the other time of the day as well. However, it should be avoided after meal.
There is no effort. All that you need to do is to lie down and close your eyes and follow the instructions.
One should lie absolutely still, without moving or physically touching the part of the body to which the awareness needs to be directed.
Make no effort, let go, and enjoy the bliss.
